Description: Maurice's BBQ is of the South Carolina mustard-based variety. My mother used to buy Maurice's sauce from our local Winn-Dixie and I have to say it is delicious. Anyway, Leah and I stopped at a Maurice's off I-95 near Santee, enticed by promises of some sort of BBQ buffet. When we got to the restaurant we found there was no buffet but there was a rather extensive "gift shop" area with many items of Confederate significance and some vaguely racist-sounding pamphlets and literature. Anyway, the BBQ was ok but the meals seemed a bit overpriced. The mustard sauce is very tangy and the portions are fairly large. The restaurant itself seemed a bit fast-foodish and wasn't really the home style atmosphere I've come to expect from BBQ joints. You gotta try it once but save yourself the trip and just buy the sauce at your local grocery store (or online).
